Do That Thing...

Is there a new skill that you have been wanting to learn? Do it! Learning a new skill is actually shown to improve your brain health! The most important reason to keep your brain healthy is so that you can try to avoid the heart breaking disease of dementia as you age.

We've all heard that brain games (crossword puzzles, sudoku, etc.) are good for the brain health and that is true. Brain Games do improve a limited amount of short-term memory. Learning a new skill, however, strengthens the connections between parts of your brain. So get out of your comfort zone and pick up a new skill. Having trouble thinking of something? See if any of the below ideas spark interest or a new idea for you!

  • Learn a new language

  • Learn a new instrument

  • Learn Photography

  • Learn Woodwork

  • Learn how to draw/sketch

  • Learn how to sew/knit/crochet

**Learning a new skill is great for brain health, but I also want to mention that eating nutritiously and exercising are vital for a healthy brain.
